Synthetic Putting Green

There are many types of ways to improve your game at home. One, of course, is the home putting green. What, though, about the synthetic putting green? Are they worth the effort to get? Deciding on whether or not you need a new synthetic putting green for your home is a big part of the decision to get a putting green in your home at all. Here are a few of the pros and cons about synthetic turf for putting greens and how they fit in with and work in comparison to synthetic lawns.

The Upside

There are many upsides to consider when it comes to synthetic putting greens at your home. For one, they are very easy to keep up. As compared to grass, there is no watering, no fertilizing, and no worries. You can use your time to practice on your synthetic backyard putting green rather than worrying about how to take care of it. Finally, being able to use your putting green all the time can make it more effective in raising the level of your putting when you get out on the course.

You should also keep in mind that your synthetic turf for putting greens will roll much like real grass. The research that has been done on this material is what ensures that it will play like real grass. This will allow you to improve your game without worry.

The Downside

There are, of course, down sides to synthetic putting greens at your home. For one, there is just no substitute for the real thing. Once you have putted on real grass, it is hard to make the switch no matter how good the material is. This is perhaps the largest downside you will hear from golfers.

Another downside is that with artificial turn putting greens you will not be able to create new hole placements. With grass, you can actually cut new holes. On the other hand, synthetic putting greens make it hard to create new hole pin placements.

As you can imagine, there is constant debate in the golf community about the merits of synthetic putting greens. Many will say that they play just like grass and that they take little or no maintenance. On the other hand, many will say that there is nothing like a real grass and that the maintenance is part of the satisfaction. The choice is yours to make and once you do, you can have your real or your synthetic putting green built.
